The Challenge
Our client required the installation of 16,875 metres of FG2 grant stock fencing across a substantial rural estate. The fencing needed to be durable, secure, and livestock-safe. In addition, access points were required at multiple locations across the site to support both livestock management and estate access.
The scale of the project, combined with the need to minimise disruption to the Estate’s daily operations presented a significant logistical and technical challenge.

The Solution
Tomley Projects approached the works with a structured, consultative process from the outset.
Initial Consultation & Planning
We conducted a thorough site assessment to understand livestock requirements, and land layout. Lamb-safe stock netting was specified to provide enhanced protection for youngstock, while high tensile wire was chosen instead of barbed wire to protect the estate wildlife.
Fencing Installation
- Installed 16,875m of lamb-safe stock netting
- Incorporated two stands of high tensile wire for increased fence height
- Ensured accurate line setting and tensioning to maintain structural integrity over varied terrain
Gate & Access Integration
A range of Escot wooden gates, single, double, and equestrian, were strategically installed to provide safe, practical access throughout the estate. Railing was fitted either side of each gate to create a consistent and robust finish, whilst also allowing the gate and fence to move independently of each other.
Throughout the project, we provided regular client updates, offered alternative options where appropriate, and ensured all works were delivered efficiently and professionally.

The Outcome
The result was a fully integrated fencing infrastructure solution that combined durability, safety, and performance.
- Secure, livestock-safe fencing installed across nearly 17km
- Improved access and estate functionality through well-positioned, high-quality gates
- Long-lasting materials ensuring value for money and reduced maintenance
The client praised the professionalism and value delivered throughout the project:
“Tomley Projects recently completed a large fencing project. The team were very professional from the initial consultation through to the end of the project. Their tender was competitive, and I felt that I was getting value for money. Tom was always on hand to answer questions and to offer other options.”
